What does the GEO analysis check?
Your home page and your robots.txt rules are read the way AI-assisted answer engines would read them, and measured under four headings. A criterion that cannot be measured is left out of the score.
| Category | What is checked | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| AI crawler access | robots.txt for search bots and bots that work on a user’s request, openness to indexing, content readable without running scripts, meta rules that restrict quoting, sitemap, speed, llms.txt | If a bot cannot enter the site or cannot read the page, the content cannot appear in answers however good it is. |
| Organisation identity and trust | Organization and WebSite data, logo and sameAs profile links, visible contact details, author or person signal, trust elements such as about and privacy | When AI systems can recognise and verify the brand correctly, they mention it with more confidence. |
| Quotability | Question-and-answer structure, a short answer right below the question, sub-headings, paragraph size, lists and tables, concrete data and source signals, content depth | Answer engines find it easy to quote short, clear passages that make sense on their own. |
| Freshness and consistency | Schema and visible dates, last-modified date in the sitemap, page language | Content that is clearly up to date is preferred for questions where recency matters. |
Which bot does what, and what is a problem to block?
AI bots are not one group. The analysis treats only blocks that directly close off visibility as a problem; the choice about training bots is yours.
| Bot type | Examples | What happens if it is blocked? |
|---|---|---|
| Search bots | OAI-SearchBot, Claude-SearchBot, PerplexityBot, Googlebot, Bingbot | Answer engines cannot find your site or cite it, so visibility in answers is closed off. The analysis treats this as a problem. |
| Bots that work on a user’s request | ChatGPT-User, Perplexity-User, Claude-User | When a user asks an AI assistant to read your page, access fails. The analysis treats this as a warning. |
| Training bots | GPTBot, ClaudeBot, Google-Extended, Applebot-Extended, CCBot | Your content is not used for model training; this is your decision and does not affect the score. |
How does the GEO analysis work?
- 01
Enter your address and goal
The site address is optional. You select your goals (appear in answers, be described correctly, receive enquiries), the problems you face and the approximate size of the site.
- 02
The pre-analysis runs
Your home page is read; the robots.txt rules are assessed bot by bot, and organisation data, question-and-answer structure, paragraph layout and freshness signals are measured and scored.
- 03
See the result, get a quote
You see the GEO score, the bot access table, the organisation identity summary, the priority steps, the recommended services with their reasons and the scope level; you can carry the result to the quote form in one click.
What does this analysis not show?
This analysis is a quick pre-assessment that looks at the public output of your site. To be honest, it does not cover some things:
- Actual citation: it does not measure whether your brand is really mentioned in ChatGPT, Gemini or Perplexity; for that, target questions are defined and the answers are recorded regularly.
- Bot logs: without server logs we cannot see whether bots really visit the site; we only look at the robots.txt rules. Blocks caused by a firewall or CDN may not be visible.
- A crawl of the whole site: only the home page is read.
- Guarantees: no measurement is a guarantee of being quoted; the signals only make quoting easier.
- Content loaded later: if the page text arrives via JavaScript, the content may look thin; most AI bots cannot see such content either.
For a deeper review, request a quote together with your result and we will assess the site with you. The first conversation is free and the quote is not binding.
What should you do based on your result?
After the analysis, look at the page closest to your situation.
If the access score is low
First make sure bots can enter the site and read the page. See the GEO – AI search optimization page for details.
If search visibility is weak as well
Answer engines rely largely on search visibility. You can measure the foundation with the free SEO analysis.
If identity and content are missing
Organisation data, a question-and-answer layout and answer-oriented content can be planned together with SEO consulting.
If you want to see the whole picture
The free website analysis measures design, software, SEO and AI visibility in one report.

Frequently Asked Questions About Free GEO Analysis
What is the GEO analysis, and is it free?
GEO (Generative Engine Optimization) is the work of making content findable, understandable and quotable in AI-assisted answer engines such as ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity. This analysis is free and needs no sign-up; it reads your home page on the spot, measures AI crawler access, organisation identity, quotability and freshness signals, and gives a score and priority steps.
Which criteria does the GEO analysis check?
Access: whether robots.txt blocks search bots and bots that work on a user’s request, whether the page is open to indexing, whether the content can be read without running scripts, meta rules that restrict quoting, the sitemap, speed, llms.txt. Identity and trust: Organization and WebSite data, logo and sameAs profile links, visible contact details, author or person signal, trust elements. Quotability: question-and-answer structure, a short answer right below the question, sub-headings, paragraph size, lists and tables, concrete data and source signals. Freshness: schema dates, visible dates, last-modified dates in the sitemap. A criterion that cannot be measured is left out of the score.
Does this analysis show whether I am actually quoted in ChatGPT or Gemini?
No. The analysis only looks at the public output of your site and your robots.txt rules; it does not measure whether your brand is actually mentioned in AI answers. For that you define target questions and record the answers on the relevant platforms regularly, with date, question and the quoted address. The analysis measures the technical and content groundwork that makes quoting easier; it is not a guarantee of being quoted.
Is blocking search bots the same as blocking training bots?
No, they are different decisions. Search bots such as OAI-SearchBot, Claude-SearchBot, PerplexityBot, Googlebot and Bingbot let answer engines find your site and cite it; blocking them closes off your presence in answers. Bots such as ChatGPT-User, Perplexity-User and Claude-User run when a user asks them to read your page. GPTBot, ClaudeBot, Google-Extended, Applebot-Extended and CCBot are mainly about model training.
Should I allow training bots?
That is your decision; the analysis does not score it. It treats only the blocking of search bots and of bots that work on a user’s request as a problem. Blocking training bots while allowing search bots is a common choice for those who do not want their content used for training but do want to appear in answers. We suggest writing your choice down as a short policy.
Is llms.txt required?
No. llms.txt is optional and not used by Google Search; it carries a low weight in the analysis. It can be seen as an additional source that summarises the site for AI assistants, but it does not create visibility on its own.
How is the GEO analysis different from the SEO analysis?
The SEO analysis focuses on the technical and on-page elements that let a site be found and ranked in search. The GEO analysis looks at AI crawler access to the site, whether machines recognise the brand correctly, and whether the content can be split into short, direct answers. The two complement each other; AI answers also rely largely on a solid search visibility foundation.
Does the analysis give a price, a time or a visibility guarantee?
No. Because we have no verified price list, we do not give figures, and we do not guarantee visibility or citation on any platform. The analysis shows the recommended route and the scope level (small, medium, large). The exact cost and schedule are set in a written quote after a conversation.
What should I do if my site cannot be analysed?
Some sites block automated checks or are temporarily unresponsive. In that case we show an assessment based only on your goals. If you like, enter your address in the quote form and we will review the site and get back to you.
